Welcome to the online home of the Here both members and visitors will find information about our organization, our semi-annual book sales and other events, membership and other opportunities to support the library's many worthwhile programs and services. There's also some background on the library itself, which serves the more than 70,000 residents of historic Yuba County. The main branch, at 303 Second Street in Marysville, includes The California Room, a unique and extensive collection of books and documents about our state's history. If you want to visit the Library's website, just click here. Follow the links to the left to learn more about the organization and how you can get involved. What's New July 20 Meeting will take place at the original Packard Library This month, the Board will meet at the original Packard Library, now home to Friday Night Live, Yuba-Sutter's successful youth outreach program. FNL is one of the Friends' community partners, receiving donations from us of books on reading, literature, writing and other forms of expression. The Packard is located across from the post office on C Street in Marysville. The meeting starts at 3:30 pm, after a 2:45 meet-and-greet with the folks at Friday Night Live who will give us some background on the history of the historic building. All members are welcome! Annual Antiques Appraisal Day: Saturday, August 28 Once again, antiques expert and radio host John Humphries is bringing his extensive knowledge to the Community Room of the Yuba County Library for the Friends' summer fundraiser. He'll be evaluating art and artifacts brought in by the public, who pay a nominal fee to the Friends for his professional opinion. This year all proceeds will be put towards the purchase of a new microfilm reader for the California Room, the Library's unique collection of Californiana. Cost of the evaluation is $5 for one item; $10 for three items. The room is set up so that it is possible to listen in to John's commentary, an education in itself! There will be two sessions: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Evaluations are on a first-come, first-served basis, with members of the Friends of the Library given preference. (Yet another reason to join -- for only $12 a year!) Shop with the Friends at The Packard Bookshop! Our book sales now continues six days a week at the Friends' new bookshop (the bookshop is new, the books are "almost new"!) inside the antique mall in historic downtown Marysville at 113 D Street, open Monday through Saturday,
11 am to 4:30 pm. Members of the Friends receive a 10% discount on the price of all used books. To join the Friends (only $12 a year!), click here for more information and an application.
